Mud Pie Sun is Steven and Tom in their Philadelphia and West Chester, PA basements with a 4-track recorder creating quiet and loud melodic pop-psych-folk-garage-and-so-forth songs.
They started as a standard 3-piece rock band known as Mud Pie in 1987, but soon found their way into the home taping, cassette culture flourishing in the pages of Factsheet 5 and other little zines.
In the early 90s Mud Pie released 3 cassette albums through their own mail order catalog and England's Acid Tapes. Songs were featured on GAJOOB Sampler #6, and the Sedimental "Town & Country" 7" compilation. Then Tom moved to San Francisco and rode his bike around for about a decade.
On returning to Philly, Tom and Steven reformed as Mud Pie Sun and have been recording songs for release on another soon to be obsolete format.
