| click for Eric Wallack music on sale @ homemademusic.com Eric Wallack I'm a free-improviser/instrumentalist working with a variety of acoustic and electric instruments. My influences range from the "American Primitive" school of acoustic guitar to the free-jazz flights of Cecil Taylor, Derek Bailey and Albert Ayler. Many of the instruments I play (traditional, non-traditional; acoustic and electric) are homemade, and I'm as likely to overdub spontaneous reactions to previously recorded tracks as I am to record forty-five minutes of solo bamboo flute. I have been known to record my trumpet with the bell submerged in a bucket of water. People have told me that as far "out" as my music can go, it is still very listenable. My recordings are willfully eclectic and can treat listeners to the suprise of a "down home" 12-string guitar sandwiched between tracks of scraped guitar strings in duet with bowed upright bass. |
