STYLE... Classical

Unlike other CDs offered here, this is a data CD, not an audio CD. (In other words... don't try to play it in your stereo--put it in your computer!) This CD contains all the original material found on the www.defordmusic.com website through November 2001, with an easy-to-use browser interface. Contents include 167 scores (PDF) and four full-length cantatas (also PDF) which may be printed and copied in any quantity for non-commercial use; 104 demo recordings (MP3); and blank staff paper in eight layouts (PDF again).

"As a vocalist, nothing challenges me more than Sally's works, nor treats my accompanist as a true counterpart in a musical presentation (the pianist and other instruments being equally challenged).

I am always on the hunt for the printed cantata music that I so carefully preserve from years of working directly at Sally's humble hand as a director of her own works. Now that I am far removed from that opportunity, having her works all on CD makes it a lot easier for me to locate and point others to, as we continue to cherish her works, which celebrate the Savior and his gospel.

While it is Sally's intent to serve the Lord, it is in singing her materials that I find the opportunity to truly celebrate the vocal gifts that I have been given. At no one time have I felt more power in that gift than being onstage and singing "Lift Up Your Heart" at the close of the first act of her play "I Think We Can Fall in Love". With Sally playing the piano, and a choral group and instrumental ensemble, the intensity with which that song closed the act was so great that one elderly 'patriarch' of our area commented that he and others were guilty of hoping the house lights didn't come up too soon so they could finish wiping the tears from their eyes.
