STYLE... Freestyle Hometaping

Hey there. My name is Christian, and I have been writing, singing and recording my own songs since 1994. In the beginning, I didn't have a guitar, nor did I know how to play one (as if I know now!), so I strummed rubber bands. I was originally motivated by 60's folk singers, yet, after I discovered lo-fi rock in 1995, my songwriting and recording activity increased.

Most of my recordings are first takes, improvised on the spot, and I guess that's what causes my music - the style of playing and the melodic content - to seem frantic, deconstructed and more-or-less psychedelic. The lyrics match the songs well, as they're usually humourous, with an occasional stroke of negativity and/or obtuse stream-of-consciousness babbling.

I have, for the most part, used various cassette machines, while I often record through a PC mic nowadays. The 'Tang Under the Bridge' moniker has evolved into 'Tang Under Yr Britches', and since the turn of the century, I have also been experimenting with electronic music / sampling (yay for the future!), under aliases like 'Branta Ix' and 'Tha Phantom Phootsoules'.
