From The Cheaters Club - USA

STYLE... Rock Oriented, Alternative, Pop, Modern

The Cheaters Club is a side project of the singer from the Northampton-based mope-rockers The F*cking Sparklies (featured on WMBR Radio, Boston; Northeast Performer Magazine, and the Northampton Music Festival). Featuring signifigantly more electronics than the already-glitched-out Sparklies and the addition of the singer's ex-girlfriend (for whom most the songs are written) sharing vocal duties, The Cheaters Club breaks from previous molds to explore new territory, incorporating found-sound drumlines, sonic background washes, and somber melodies combined with catchy drumwork and samples galore. The vocals lean towards the soft-spoken narrative variety, while retaining prominence in the mix, and detail mostly small moments in failing relationships, those tiny but signifigant fragments that make up the whole picture.

This is the second release from the Cheaters Club and the precursor to their full-length album, hopefully due in early 2004.

REVIEWS...

"This six-song effort by the Cheater's Club spreads across a range of danceable beats and Joy Division-like desolation... The down-tempo beats provide a gothic sway that underpins this disc, while Eon's vocals are alternately mumbles you wish you could discern, sexy moans disguised as lyrics, or truly menacing threats... [Mariel's] vocals drip with a disaffected sensuality making it tough to tell whether she's about to yawn and stop acknowledging you or if she's perched on the verge of orgasm trying to make that moment last as long as possible...It's that raw emotion that Cheater's Club wants to expose. Most of us try to tuck it away and move on when things have been ugly, hoping that when things this bad happen to us it won't scar us indefinitely. Here, it's a quest to the marrow." --Northeast Performer Magazine
